Send Some MoJo My Way, Please!

Just a 30-second rant, here. Humor me.

I am working on an article that is due in 6 days. I have no doubt I will get it done; I am more than halfway finished. I am just not feeling it, though!

The topic of this article is something that is extremely familiar to me and I should be having an easy time of it…but I’m not! I am easily distracted and want to take the dog for a walk, but I really, really, really want to get this monkey off my back.

My paycheck is waiting for me and will be sent here as soon as I send in this article. What is wrong with me????

Please, somebody out there: send me some motivation!

Thank you.

What if you took the dog for 1/2 a walk (if the whole walk is more time than you want to invest)? You know I get all caught up in speed-bumps sometimes when freelancing and if I actually get away from my desk for a pre-determined amount of time to do something that I have been obsessing about doing when I sit at my desk, I often find that it’s much easier to get the work done. Like holding your breath for awhile but thinking about breathing. If you allow yourself to breath, you may find the work is much easier to wade through. See you at the big game tonight!

    Mojo, mojo, mojo!

I’m so with you on the procrastinating. My only solution (at least that works for me) is to write a list of specifically what needs to be done, even sometimes breaking it down into “fake” subtasks, so that I can cross them off my list and feel like I *really* did something.

    Good luck!

I’d send you some motivation but it seems I’m all out of it myself. I’m playing the “watch-the-clock-and-make-it-LOOK-like-you’re-working” game.

Best of luck on the article!

Hopefully by the time you get this it will be done. Isn’t it so hard when you just can’t get into it? Good luck!

Um….maybe pretend you’re NOT getting paid for it?? (That’s all I’ve got; sorry!)

Not sure if my tired, worn-out mojo will help, but I’m sending it along anyway! 😉

Maybe that will help too? 🙂

Wow, you guys (girls, I mean) are awesome! Thanks for coming through.

I ended up doing like my sista suggested and getting up from here for a little while and walked the dog. I came back and resumed working, and by the end of my worktime I found myself with only my conclusion paragraph to do as well as inserting the quotes from my “expert”, and re-editing for the final draft. Sounds like alot but I will get it all done later tonight within about an hour. So, yay me! And yay all of you!

*BTW: I was about to have a little “speedbump” when I couldn’t for the life of me locate my notes from the interview I did with my “expert”. However, uncharacteristically, I remained calm knowing that I wouldn’t have thrown it away and–to quote my mom–knew it was “here somewhere”. I just found it under a big pile of crap on my kitchen island. Shew!

Obviously, Melisa, if you were in the prison system you wouldn’t be having this problem of procrastination! So next time you are feeling distracted go commit some crime and voila…lots of quiet time to write!

Disclaimer…. I do not support committing crimes, I am just going off the previous post.
