Gone Gaga

I am a huge fan of Lady Gaga‘s music. As an artist, I think she’s really something, and no matter how people criticize her sense of “style” or her “art”, there’s no denying her impact on the current pop music landscape. I have enjoyed each and every song that has appeared in heavy rotation (though “LoveGame” and its Disco Stick had to grow on me for a while before I finally loved it!).

Her latest song, “Paparazzi” is my all-time favorite. I saw her perform it at the MTV VMA’s and, though her performance was pounded by some because it was so avant garde, I was transfixed. When I told Jim that this song is my favorite of hers so far, he said, “You’re kidding, REALLY??”

I had a little chuckle yesterday when it came on the radio and I finally, after weeks of singing along, made the personal connection which provided the likely reason for it being my favorite. As you may know if you’ve been a long-time reader or if you watched last Friday’s episode of “Suburban WoW” (now in reruns, HERE!), I “got” Jim by utilizing some rather untraditional methods*. Seems like Lady Gaga and I are of similar minds.

I’m your biggest fan I’ll follow you until you love me,
Papa-paparazzi,
Baby there’s no other superstar you know that i’ll be your
Papa-paparazzi
Promise i’ll be kind, but i won’t stop until that boy is mine,
Baby you’ll be famous chase you down until you love me,
Papa-paparazzi

At first I really liked Lady Gaga. Pokerface was awesome because it was different. Now? I just wish she went back to where she came from. Whenever a song of hers comes on I change the channel and God forbid I see her crazy mug on the telly or in the paper. She's indeed Gaga, which in itself isn't bad – it's just that we're over-exposed to her and quite frankly I have grown very, very tired of her.

But I am happy you like her music and hope you get to enjoy it for a long time.

Pokerface was great. Not really a fan of Love Game. I am liking Paparazzi.

I think she's crazy, but she has an amazing voice. She's pretty alright.

I didn't know what a Lady Gaga was before my trip to California and was schooled by the moms I met there. I'm not sure if that makes me old or a snob. That genre of music isn't really my thing, but did you see her on SNL when she and Adam Samberg showed up wearing the same bubble dress? Now that was just funny.

I also caught her on SNL and I was pretty much mesmerized by the metal hoops she was wearing…but man, when she sat down and started playing the piano and singing…that girl has quite the voice.

So she scares me, but I still like her….lol!

I first heard about Lady Gaga over a year ago on Perez Hilton.

I love her music. I am very much an 80's techno electronica type of girl (New Order and the like) and to me it's fun that there are many new artists that seem to harken back to that kind of music.

I just laugh at all the crazy things she wears. The Kermit the Frog outfit I think is my favorite.

I mean it's performance art, people! It's all part of her whole schtick, and it gets her publicity. I just say, you go girl! She has risen far in a short time. Does no one remember Madonna's cone bras? If you're going to top Madonna for outrageous, I guess you have to go for the Kermit.

I like Poker Face the song the best, but the Paparazzi music video has the hot hot hot Alexander Skarsgard from True Blood. She's talented AND she gets him in bed? Yeah, count me jealous.

Never really listened to Lady Gaga's music, but I will check it out since youare singing her praises.

I recently connected with Jay-Z's new CD. There is one song, "Empire State of Mind" that is a 21st century tribute to the Big Apple. The song is so optimistic and uplifting that it makes me want to almost pack my bags for Gotham.

Gotta love how subliminally you knew to love that song although it took you awhile to figure out why. Such a hip and cool mom you are 🙂
