Here’s a Recipe You Should Try This Weekend

I have no clue if this has made the e-mail rounds or not, but I got this today from my friend Angelica and I thought it was so funny that I’d make it my THIRD post of the day! Here goes: Just wanted to share my favorite holiday recipe with you. Jose Cuervo Cookies-Snowwoman 1 cup water 1 tsp baking soda 1 cup sugar 1 tsp salt 1 cup brown sugar 4 large eggs 1 cup nuts 2 cups dried fruit 1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequila Sample the Cuervo to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo again, to be sure it is of the highest quality, pour…

    A Christmas Miracle!

You read it right: a miracle happenned!(I would have called this post “A Hanukkah Miracle” because that is equally appropriate, but it has to do with a Christmas gift) First of all, meet my BFF Kate, who–with this post–has now been officially mentioned on two blogs. We have been friends since high school; I’ve actually known her longer than I’ve known my husband. I have an awesome photo of her that I am dying to post here, but I won’t because she will kill me. I will describe it, though. I took the picture on a boat from Dresden Germany to Meissen Germany in the summer of 2006. We were…

The Best Thing Ever For Your Pillow

Julie (I can’t call her Jules: she’s my sister! She’s Julie to me, like I’m Missy to her!) gave me this awesome product (Lavender Chamomille Sleep Pillow Mist by Bath and Body Works) for Hanukkah, because I am notoriously not only a light sleeper, but a bad sleeper. I wake up in the middle of the night often, unable to get back to sleep, or I have trouble getting to sleep in the first place. The problem is that I have an overactive brain. I even have paper next to my bed in case I think of something that I worry I’ll forget by morning: I write it down. I’m…

The Best Thing Ever on Paper

With all the talk we’ve been doing about customer service, I’ve been dying to post the great gift I found! I had to wait to post, though, because although I gave one to Julie/Jules last Saturday, I am just leaving in a few minutes to give the other one I bought to my friend Diane. What is it, you ask? It’s perfect, that’s what. Have you ever wanted to leave a comment (good or bad), but comment cards weren’t offered at that particular establishment? Well, depend on others no more; just stick a pad of these in your purse: Isn’t that great? You can get some for yourself at Knock…

The Case of the Missing Backpack…SOLVED!

Isn’t he cute? This photo has nothing to do with the post other than to remind me how absolutely adorable he is. I sent an e-mail on Sunday; here it is (names have been changed for clarity and to protect the innocent): Date: Sun, 16 Dec 2007 From: MeSubject: The Twelve-Year-OldTo: Reading Teacher, English Teacher, Science Teacher, Gym Teacher, Math Teacher, Social Studies Teacher, Band Teacher Hello all~I wanted to make you aware of a “situation” we’re dealing with right now. The twelve-year-old *somehow* lost his backpack on the bus Friday afternoon. I know it sounds ridiculous, but he says that he took it on the bus and, after sitting…

The Case of the Missing Backpack

So…where was I? Oh yes, my mini nervous breakdown. Here’s the lead-up: On Sunday of last weekend, Jim suddenly came down with the flu. Ick. Sunday also happened to be the day I wanted us to go to the mall to get new clothes for all four of us, because we are all running thin on jeans and wintery tops (I know, I know: girls wear “tops”; boys wear “shirts”, but I’m including sweaters and sweatshirts in that blanket term). I decided, due to my chronic time-crunch, to just take the boys and we’d pick up stuff for Jim (I’m lucky in that he doesn’t mind when I shop for…

    Let The Crisco-fest Begin! (again)

We’re off to Jules’/Julie’s home this evening for our post-Hanukkah Hanukkah Celebration, since she couldn’t make it to our house last Saturday night. It’ll be really fun, and–just like last Saturday–super greasy. At least I made enough blintzes last week so I don’t have to do that again. And we’ll get to sit on her new couch, which is all the more exciting! Other events planned: gift exchange and Trivial Pursuit playing. Yay! I have so much to write about: mainly the mini-nervous breakdown I had yesterday afternoon (It’s been a long week!). But…you will have to be patient and return to me tomorrow or Monday! (How’s that for a…

More Fun at the Post Office

I saw M, my “best friend at the Post Office”, yesterday. If you read my other blog, you’ll remember her outstanding customer service; if not, you can read the story here and here, and then here. Anyway, you’ll be happy to know that my first experience with M was not a freak accident; she is two-for-two. (Can I get a “w00t” for great customer service, people??) I brought my holiday cards–about 70 of them–to the post office, and once again when my number came up it happenned to be for M’s counter. She recognized me immediately and greeted me like the old friend I apparently am. I had 4 cards…
