What Are Your “Bad” Words?

I recently made a cake for a wedding shower for a girl I work with. The cake was a big joke because it featured a word that she absolutely cannot stand: Lips. I think Momo Fali did a post about this (was it you, Momo?) in the past few months but couldn’t find it to link to it: are there words that you absolutely can’t stand? I have a few, like “bladder”. I don’t know why it bothers me…just does. What words drive you crazy?

Here is a photo of the cake.

It is not nearly as ugly as the 13-year-old’s birthday cake. I was rather happy with it! And the wax lips were a big hit at the party, too!

EDITED: Thank goodness Andie of Sweet.Southern.Spirited reminded me that she was the one who did the post in question. Read hers here!

I hate the phrase “Old Fart”. HATE IT! I don’t know why, but it bugs the crap out of me.

All I can think of is the phrase ‘No more chocolate for you!’.

It strikes terror into my heart.

    Good work on the cake!

I love that cake and your right, the wax lips make the cake!

Weird words…I’m not sure I have any..

Awww, so sweet of you to make that!

    My yuck words:
    Butt
    zit
    the “c” word, of course

I know I have more, but I can’t think of them at the moment! Maybe I’ve finally successfully blocked them from my brain.

You KNOW how I love big words, but if I had to choose, I’d say:

    Paradigm and Synergy

Both are over used words that alot of dumb people use to try and make themselves sound smarter, but in an annoying way. I had an old boss who used to use these words, and he was so stupid that he couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a friggin boat.

There is nothing more annoying than a stupid person being told they sound “smart” because they used a certain word, and then unleashing it on every person they meet every third sentence.

Good gravy, I’m rambling; you must have struck a nerve.

    Love the cake.

I hate to even write this word.

The phrase, in reference to bodily function…”Take a d_mp” Oh my God my neck tightens it just writing it. It disgusts me and hearing it is like hitting a brick wall. Stops me dead in my tracks. Totally skeeves me out!

    Katie: You make me giggle!

Nukedad: “There is nothing more annoying than a stupid person being told they sound “smart” because they used a certain word, and then unleashing it on every person they meet every third sentence.” I TOTALLY AGREE. One more thing, you should have given your Big Word Wednesday posts a plug! It was wide open for ya! If you won’t, I will: Everybody: go to Nuclear Family Warhead every Wednesday for some new vocabulary that you can NOT unleash on every person you meet in every third sentence! 🙂 hee hee

Steeeeeeeelllllllllaaaaaa! (bet you never hear THAT) Welcome! I totally agree with that first one. Hate it.

    Julie: Hate that one too.

Kathryn: You crack me up. But I guess I agree with you on that.

Nope, wasn’t me. I wish I had thought of it though! You may be thinking of when I mentioned my biggest pet peeve is when people say “a-whole-nother”. Makes me crazy!

  • Melisa

Yay! Thanks for the reminder, Andie! I’m editing the post so it’ll link up. And yes, your words are disgusting to me as well! LOL
