I have been blessed to receive three lovely blog awards from three lovely ladies, and I thought I’d pass them on over Memorial Day weekend: what the heck?
First, from Surprised Mom, I received the Queen of All Things Award:
I am apparently supposed to list seven things you all don’t already know about me before passing it on to a few other well-deserving folks. Hmm. Here we go.
1. I was on the yearbook staff in high school.
2. I took shorthand in high school, because my mom thought it would be a good skill to have. Now, not only do I think they have gotten rid of the need for shorthand by coming out with voice recorders, but all I can remember how to write in shorthand is the word “shorthand”. I think.
3. I am an excellent cross-stitcher, though my eyes can’t stand when I do it anymore.
4. I once wrote a ridiculous letter to the editor of People magazine, in mourning over a celebrity that died. I was a teenager, I got a rejection postcard, and was ticked off that they didn’t publish my letter. Note to self: put a post in draft about this story.
5. Jim and I stopped eating pork (for religious reasons) many years ago. I miss real bacon and pepperoni sometimes, but not often.
6. I love the smell of lilac. No really, I LOVE it.
7. I don’t drink coffee. Ever.
Wow, thrilling stuff. Anyway, I’d like to pass this award on to the following people: Melissa, Liz, Mags, and Weaselmomma.
The next award I received was from Myrna at Tangerine Times. (By the way, she’s another mom of teens and has some excellent, thought-provoking stuff regarding teens and their issues over there! Check her out!) It’s the Splash Award.
I’m copying Myrna’s description of it for you:
Apparently the Splash Award is given to alluring, amusing, bewitching, impressive, and inspiring blogs. When you receive it you must:
-put the logo on your blog/post
-nominate up to 9 blogs that allure, amuse, bewitch, impress, or inspire you
-be sure to link to your nominees in your post
-let them know they have been Splashed by commenting on their blog
-remember to link to the person from whom you received your Splash Award
So sweet, Myrna! Thanks! I would like to pass this one on to: Andie, Momo, Colleen, Tutugirl, and Huckdoll.
Lastly, I received an award and a whole morning of laughter on Twitter from Liz. I can’t even tell you about it here, but suffice it to say I got a couple of new followers on Twitter, like @Twittterporn. Liz bestowed the “Choke the Chicken” Zombie Chicken award onto me.
“The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken – excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all…”
Oy. Well, I don’t want to risk the wrath of the zombie chickens, so I’m passing this one on to Sue, Michelle, Nukedad, Anissa, Mr. Man, Mayberry Mom, Movie Maven, and the Microblogologist.
Shew! It’s exhausting giving out awards! Do me a favor: check out some of these fine bloggers. They are only A FEW of the folks that keep my bloggie world spinning. And they’d love for you to visit them: tell them Melisa sent ya!

Congrats. You deserve them.
Sue
Thank you, thank you and thank the academy too! It’s nice that we are both sitting in bloggerville on a Sat. night of Mem. Day weekend! Actually, I am on my way to bed, but when you mentioned prize, I ran right over (in my jammies!). I too, love lilacs and they are in full bloom right now, which reminds me to put my scissors in my car and go apprehend some tomorrow from the neighbors’ yard!
Huckdoll
You are the awesomest. I’m tickled! I think this is the first award I’ve received since the good old days @ Huckdoll’s Hood 🙂
Thank you so much xo
Michelle
The zombie chicken, huh? Sadly, I was expecting an award for something far more mundane. Thanks 🙂 And you know I’m notoriously bad at these things, right?
I think I’m going to have my one sixtyblue cake thing for breakfast tomorrow. Mmmmm.
Movie Maven
I’m proud to thank the academy for bestowing upon me the Zombie Chicken Award. “You like me! You really like me!”
It’s the perfect one for me! lol
surprised mom
You deserve every award you earn! Congratulations! And thanks for the shout out! Looking forward to reading you for quite some time!
WeaselMomma
It was an honor just having nominated. I never dreamed that I would win. This is the biggest honor I have ever received. I must acknowledge that I could never have this on my own, it was a group effort. I need to thank, hey. hey. Turn of that music!!!! I’m not finished…………….

Nice collection of bling… congrats. I recognize several of the blogs you passed on to, the others I can’t wait to check out.
Mr Lady
You don’t drink coffee??? This is going to put a major rift in our relationship.
NukeDad
Thanks, Melisa! I’m glad I got another shot at the Zombie Chicken Award; I misunderstood the directions last time and instead of passing it along, I made soup. Oops.
Mrs4444
Congrats on these distinguished awards! Shorthand, cross stitch, lilacs–I could answer the same. As for the shorthand skills, though, I do use one or two signs when writing on the board in class. “Thinking” (– and one other that I forget, haha.
mayberry
I hate coffee and not even zombie chickens could get me to drink it.
Thanks! and congrats to you too!
The Microblogologist
Thanks, I’m with NukeDad on this one, I’ll try to get a post up before they get me (but not until after Memorial Day since I posted for that)! Always nice to be recognized even if I’ve been pretty absent as of late, if I could only get the pesky real life crap worked out so I can fully return to blogging…
Andie
Thank you!
Colleen - Mommy Always Wins
