Have you ever posted a status on Facebook in a hurry and without reading it to check it over you close the tab and go on with your day, not realizing that it may have some problems?
I have, probably many times, but most recently last night.
You see, it was the second night of Hanukkah and Jim and I exchanged gifts. This year we made a pact that I would buy only one gift for him and vice versa. I’ll show you what I got in a moment but first, the Facebook status I posted, which went something like this:
“Jim gave me one of the best gifts EVER for Hanukkah tonight. Pictures will be posted tomorrow.”
Luckily I have friends (Ahem) who keep me in check by posting comments that say such things as “Biting my tongue…”
Oops.
Okay, so the gift wasn’t…
I mean, not that…
Never mind.
I deleted the status so a screen shot of it wouldn’t end up being ridiculed someday on some website created just for that purpose, and I am still laughing about it.
But I digress.
Hilariously worded Facebook status or not, the gift I received last night–from my HUSBAND–is indeed one of my favorite things he’s ever given me (shut up). He framed the cover of my book, to hang on the family room wall next to the framed cover of my other book. I love this because my book covers aren’t just beautiful pieces of art (thanks to my sister, who designed the cover of the first one, and D, who designed the cover of the second one). They are also reminders of my dreams come true and my goals achieved, all with the unwavering support and encouragement of friends and family, and most of all, my husband. Whatever your dreams and goals may be, if you don’t have the support and encouragement of the people who are closest to you (and I know a couple of people who do not), the road is a much more difficult one and sometimes the end result is bittersweet. In my case, I am a very, very lucky girl in so many ways.
Back to my gift…Jim asked Julesie to help him pick out the frame and matting, and I adore their choices. I sat with it on my lap for about a half hour just so I could stare at it: I can’t wait to hang it up! So, without further ado, here’s a picture of my present.
That Jim…he knows EXACTLY how to make me happy.
Wait, I mean…
NEVER MIND.
