Well, this has been a confusing morning so far, thanks to Feedburner.
I’ve been hearing a bunch of chatter in the last week or so that Feedburner will be
shutting down/changing/discontinuing service/majorly messed up/imploding
as of October 20th. Those of you who are bloggers and/or subscribe to Suburban Scrawl via Feedburner know what that means; those of you who don’t blog and/or just pop in here from time to time may not know, and it won’t affect you as much (or at all).
I’m not sure if the rumors are true, but what I do know is that, this morning, everyone’s Feedburner subscriber count went to zero, and none of the blogs that I subscribe to are being updated in my Google Reader. I’m not sure if this is a temporary glitch but it has definitely caught my attention.
For now, my plan is to stand by and watch what happens. There are a few options for me as far as migrating my feed to a different service, and I’ll definitely let you know if and when that happens so you can resubscribe. (Of course, if you subscribe to my feed, you won’t be reading this anyway unless you check in because you’re wondering why you haven’t seen me writing lately!)
If you are an email subscriber, this won’t affect you at all because I can, when I make my move, transfer my email subscribers without your even noticing (except for what will be a different-looking email from usual).
I’m just going to go on and conduct myself here, business as usual. The best thing I can suggest is to please either make sure you have liked my Facebook page because I always publish the links to new posts over there, and if you’d like to subscribe via email so you don’t have to take action later, you can do that too, up there on the right, just above the graphic of my book (or here). I’ll keep you posted! Thanks for your patience, and Happy Friday!
UPDATED: I am seeing/hearing/reading scuttlebutt about new email subscriptions on Feedburner “not taking”, so for now maybe just “like” my Facebook page!

Oh man… I don’t even know which feeder I use. And I don’t want to go look…

Okay, question though, I just went to my Feedburner and can’t get my email subscribers email addresses right now (their all gone) – can you see yours? How are you going to export them to another program?

Are you on WordPress? I use Jetpack for stats and it lists them there.

That said, I think they have to be pulled from Feedburner to migrate, but honestly I don’t have very many email subscribers so I’m going to take some screenshots to keep track just in case. 🙂

Cher: You’re looking under the “publicize” tab and then “email subscriptions” tab on the left sidebar, right? I still see mine (as of this comment date/time) and have made a copy, just in case.

I am completely clueless on what to do now. I’m not on WordPress. I haven’t had any meaningful content in forever, maybe I should just throw in the towel 🙁
