I just returned home from my Week 9, Day 2 run and wanted to tell you about it, but first I wanted to say thank you so much to all of you who piped up with advice and encouragement when I hit the wall on Friday; you all really came through for me. As you know, I’m swamped, but I wanted to respond to comments and I can save myself a few minutes by responding here, quickly. Sarahndipitea: I did not even know that there was special Couch to 5K music out there! I checked it out after you left your comment and was amazed. I didn’t download any yet,…

Couch To 5K Update: See Ya, Week 8! Bring On Week 9!
Shortest update so far! I don’t even remember what I said…but I am runningrunningrunning today and wanted to get this posted, so totally don’t make fun of me, K? Tin Roof! Rusted.
I had the pleasure of revisiting the 80’s personally last week when I went to see the B-52s play at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, a northern suburb of Chicago. My “date”? None other than my friend and virtual training partner for the BlogHer 5K, Michelle from Honest and Truly. Ravinia is a Chicago-area tradition. All summer long, a wide variety of musical and dance groups perform there, from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (every year!) to acts like (this year!) Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Four Tops, The Silk Road Ensemble with Yo Yo Ma, Counting Crows, Crosby Stills & Nash, The Beach Boys, Nelly Furtado, Vince Gill, Jethro Tull, Sheryl…

3…2…1…Liftoff!
This month has been explosive for me as far as new projects suddenly coming together and being ready to launch; I’ve got yet another one to share with you. Do you remember when, last summer, I did a Guest DJ shuffle for Music Savvy Mom? And then, do you remember, back in March, when I gave you my musical resume? Well, I’ve been in cahoots (I LOVE that phrase!) with Ri, Music Savvy Mom herself, along with a bunch of other super-cool chicks, working on a project that is finally ready to share with the public: it’s a new, collaborative blog called The Music Mamas! We’re a group of music-loving…

Couch To 5K Update: ’80s (Leg) Explosion
Here we are again; it’s time to give you my weekly Couch to 5K update. If you didn’t read my first update, you can catch up here. You know what they say about the “best laid plans”, right? (No? Okay, click here.) Don’t worry, I didn’t quit the program. Remember, though, how my plan was to actually do the workout FOUR times per week instead of three, to accelerate my training a bit, and that the fourth day of the week would be a repeat of the day before? The plan was to NOT move ahead to a more challenging workout on the fourth day, because I was worried I’d…

This is Why I’m Hot.
Oh my goodness, how I have grown to despise memes. But here’s the thing, when a friend who you really, really love asks you–nay, begs you–to do it, well, I’m a sucker good friend. And the best part is, now she owes me big time I made her very happy by doing this. If you choose to go crazy and do this meme also, Ri has a Mr. Linky on her original post that you can use to expose yourself and your eclectic musical tastes to others. So I’m not asking you to do it, but lets just say that you could make Ri really really happy too, if you…

This One’s For Huckdoll, But You Can Enjoy It, Too.
Let’s try something new, shall we? First, right click on this and open it up in a new tab so it plays while you read. If you’re at home, turn it up too, why don’t you? It never matters much, what kind of mood I’m in before teaching a group cycling class. Once I plug in my iPod, press play, and crank up the volume as high as I possibly can without feeling like I’m going to blow out the speakers, the endorphins start flowing and I feel like I can conquer the world. Being an instructor also adds a different dimension to class. I won’t lie: there’s a great…

Did Someone Ask For My Musical Resume?
No? Oh. Must’ve been me. I am cracking myself up this morning and thought I’d share with you. Of course, by setting it up that way I am really hoping that I’m not the only one who finds ME so funny this morning.I had to write a bio for a little (okay, big) side project I am involved with which I am not giving you details on quite yet (but some of you regs may figure it out), and I thought it would be fun to post it here in its current form, in case I have to drastically change the final draft later on. Without further ado: Sadly, Melisa…
