When I showed you my secret obsession back in November, I got some great responses. And lost only a few readers, I think… When I live-blogged the Royal Wedding on April 29, I really did it more for my own amusement than anything else, but it happened to entertain a few other people too, which was nice. (It quickly became one of my most popular posts in my nearly-four years of blogging.) What I’ve learned is that you people may not all like the British royals as much as I do, but you seem to like that I like them as much as I do. It’s high time for another…

Live Blogging The Royal Wedding: It’s A Dirty Job, But Somebody’s Gotta Do It.
That’s right, I’m doing it. When the engagement was announced, I giddily recorded a video exposing my terrible “secret” and excitedly spoke about how I would make “big plans” for the wedding. I had intended to have some friends come and spend the night, or get a hotel suite in the city (seriously). Unfortunately but also very fortunately, my life’s bigger plans got in the way of making those big plans, and now here it is, less than twelve hours before Catherine becomes the newest Royal, and I’ve got nada. I had to plan SOMETHING. So I did. Due to the fact that I have a feeling Twitter is going…

We Did It!
This picture was taken by Secret Agent Mama with the PEN E-PL1 camera that Olympus was kind enough to loan me! Yay us! Michelle and I completed the Blogher 5K this morning! Michelle ran just about all of it; she had to stop at certain intersections to figure out which way to go! I ran more than half of it before I alternated running and walking. I have a blister the size of a quarter on the bottom of my foot that I got over the last two nights while hoofing it all over Manhattan in non-sensible shoes (THANKS, annoying sandals…NOT!), and that bothered me a bit. Plus? It was…

The (Rainbow) Connection
The last two evenings in my house have been spent watching* the Season One DVDs of “The Muppet Show”, which Julesie bought for me in honor of the personal celebration I recently had, about which you are no doubt sick of hearing. Our family, like so many others, loved that show when it was originally broadcast in 1976. We became Superfans of sorts; Julesie’s favorite character was Fozzie Bear (wocka wocka wocka!) and mine was Miss Piggy. For a couple of years (1979-1982?), she was everywhere you looked, and I was totally obsessed. I collected all things Miss Piggy. I had this glass: I had this calendar: And, um, I…

Meat Maidens Gone Wild!!!
Yesterday was, as expected, a blast. But it was about 10,000 times better than I could have ever imagined. A mere blog post won’t even capture it properly; you truly had to be there. Momo did her own summary. The pictures would have spoken for themselves had it not been for the adorable RHYMING VERSE she used. She’s good. Really good. But I’ll try to give you a taste of it. First, the road trip to the Land of Momo. My van-mates? The lovely Weaselmomma: and the equally lovely Surprised Mom: Honestly, if you happen to be riding across the midwest (or where ever) in the middle seat of a…

I Bet You Know What Will Be On *MY* Head Today. What About Yours?
Regular content-filled posts will be back tomorrow. Today, I just want to put my tiara on and wish everyone out there (including my own Mom: Love you!) a Happy, Fabulous, Restful, Quiet, and–heck–Luxurious Mother’s Day! May it be one for the books*! *What books? I have no idea. I just thought that sounded good.

She Earned Each and Every Rhinestone, The Hard Way!
Recently I have become acquainted with Karen of My Microscopic Life. She is a grad student in the great state of Iowa, and hangs out on the internets with good people like Weaselmomma, Nonna, and Oh Captain. In checking my sitemeter as I obsessively do ten to fifteen times each day do every now and then, I started to see that someone from the Ames, Iowa area seemed to be reading my archives. All of them, as in EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. That’s like, four hundred and something posts. But that’s not all, folks. She left comments. Not hundreds of comments, but a comment here and there all along the way.…

Reason #29 For Wearing a Tiara
Now you can purchase (and wear!) a tiara created by a celebrity, to benefit the young adult program at the New York Library! The Royal Tiara Auction has been going on since January 1 and ends on the 31st, so you don’t have much time! The tiara above was created by Meg Cabot, the author of the Princess Diaries book series, and in fact this Tiara Auction celebrates the release of the 10th volume of the series, Forever Princess. (Reminder: all proceeds go to the New York Library.) Here’s another one, created by Dylan Lauren of Dylan’s Candy Bar NYC (a family favorite!): Other celebrities who participated are Marc Brown…

You Say Tiara, I Say Tiara.
I was completely blown away when I did my “How do you pronounce the word ‘tiara’?” poll a while back and discovered that I was in the minority because I say “tee-air-uh” and not “tee-aahr-uh”. In fact, though 2 people claim to not say it either way (Ahem, Nukedad and…Tom? Such manly men.), four of you say it like I do but a whopping thirteen of you say it wrong the other way. Blown away doesn’t cover it, actually. I was flabbergasted. I actually PUT OFF looking it up for realsies because I was scared that my pronunciation wouldn’t even be listed as an option, and wouldn’t that make me…

Auld Lang Syne
Disclaimer: This New Year’s Eve Recap is not for Dork-a-phobes. We had a GREAT time on New Year’s Eve. We were invited to the home of two of our oldest friends; actually they are our oldest “Couple” friends. (does that make sense?) Dawn and Scott live almost 90 minutes south of here and we only get together once or twice each year; although I wish we lived closer, our time together always ends up being worth the wait. Due to the length of the drive to and from their house, I was trying to figure out who I would ask to give Roxie a potty break while we were gone…
