Hold Onto Your Tiara: It’s Time For “Adventures With Weaselmomma”!

If you’re a regular reader (thanks!), you already know that Weaselmomma and I live ten minutes apart (only three highway exits!). We “met” through blogging just a couple of months ago and subsequently have *really* met in person once, when she recently came to see me in the salon. Weaselmomma has been getting tired of me whining about my angry grocery store experiences: mainly the day when my meat got touched, but also my shopping trip last week, when some random jerk thought it was totally acceptable to make a comment about how full my cart was. Weaselmomma suggested that, rather than going ahead with my own idea on solving…

Who Knew That Making Fun of My Boss Would Lead To a Spontaneous Bloggie Meeting?

First, click it. Planned blogger meetings? You are OUT. Auf Wiedersehen. Spontaneity? You are IN. You can leave the runway. I was at work yesterday when I decided to send out a tweet, totally making fun of the fact that my boss (yeah, yeah, the salon owner, the one who can do whatever the hell she wants) decided to have a pedicure right in the middle of the work day, making it very difficult for the two of us to actually get some work done *together* in a rare slice of time when I’m there and she’s client-free. Her M.O. is that, from the ped chair, she will call out…

Alright, Alright…Birthdays Aren’t THAT Bad, Especially When They Last A Week.

I have done a lot of bellyaching over the past couple of months about turning F…F…Fo…Forty, and although I am still not thrilled, my chosen new attitude is helping me to settle in, along with the wonderful birthday WEEK I just experienced. My friends and family tossed so much love at me, how could I be anything but warm and fuzzy? Last Sunday evening, Jim surprised me by taking the entire Fab Five (if you’re a newbie here at the Scrawl, the Fab Five is me, Jim, the boys, and my sister Julesie) out to dinner. Everyone knew where we were going except for me, the birthday girl. I was…

    Who Wants a Clean House?

I do. But I don’t just want a Clean House (and believe me, if you are familiar with that show–one of my faves–you can rest assured that my house does not have nearly enough clutter to qualify, thank goodness), but I want a Cleaner-looking Blog. The look of my blog has been bothering me for a while and, though I’m not yet ready to put on my construction hat tiara and renovate completely, I have made a couple of fun (for me) changes. Rather than keep my basic blogroll and lovely awards that have been bestowed upon this page, I have packed them up and moved them to another page.…

King of the Castle, King of the Castle: I Have a Red Shirt!

Over the weekend, Jim and I–along with the sixteen-year-old–volunteered on behalf of the Lacrosse Club at our town’s major end-of-summer festival. We signed up to do two shifts, Saturday AND Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Initially we were supposed to work in the beer tent (well, Jim and I were; the boy was supposed to take tickets elsewhere), but due to some snafu we were switched to Security. Yes, you read that right: Security. Needless to say, I was very excited. On Saturday, we picked up our white “Volunteer” shirts… …and then got our assignment: Crowd Control. Not as exciting as it sounds. You see, we were stationed in the concert…

    Cinderella Sarah and Her Tiara

I absolutely love to hear about the way you people out there use your tiaras–real or imaginary. It entertains me to no end. That is why I was so very happy that I checked in on Suburban Rage a few days ago, before a certain post dropped off the page. Not only is there a photo of Sarah wearing her tiara (ha ha, I’m a poet and didn’t know it!), but she gave me a little shout-out as well. This is one of the most tiara-entertaining photos I have ever seen. Check it out by clicking here! (Nice job, Sarah! By the way, who took the photo?)

I Have No Doubt That a Tiara Will Someday Adorn This Girl’s Head.

The 13-year-old went to a pool party on Saturday, and I wanted to share the spunky invite he received for this party, which came via U.S. Postal Service two weeks ago. The bright orange, number 10, Business-sized envelope was addressed with a thin purple marker and many stars, clouds, and curliques covered the empty spaces. After he (remember, young teen BOY) opened the envelope, he unfolded the white copy paper the invite was printed on and read it silently before he tossed it onto the kitchen counter and said, “Hmm. Okay.” I picked it up and was delighted at the wording; reminds me of…well, ME, at that age. Okay, at…

She Nailed It Right On the Head (Narrowly Missing My Tiara)

I got the most adorable card yesterday from my girl Sue, from As Cape Cod Turns. Check it out! She said that she found it and thought of me. Now THAT really warmed my heart. I think about my blogging friends all the time, during all kinds of different circumstances. What about you? Do you do that, too? Naturally when any German reference shows up in front of me, I’m thinking of my evil twin, Kat. The same goes for Australia and my much, much younger bloggy sister, Katie. I think of Melissa whenever I pass a Chili’s, because we will be meeting there in the near future. I think…
